Meet The New Boss….Still The Same Old Boss
What, you thought a Sabean extension would go by, and we wouldn’t comment on it?
As much as I want to, I can’t blame Sabean entirely for last season. Counting on Huff to continue offensively was a bad decision. But this team was a competitive, first-place team for most of the season, even after losing Posey and Sanchez. And Sabean went all-out to get Beltran…I can not fault him for that. Beltran’s injury was unpredictable, and the dude did hit .323/.369/551 with 20 extra-base hits in 44 games.
But Sabean has spent years putting together bad or flawed teams. He’s done a great job building up this pitching, no doubt…but just because the torture that comes from a crappy offense is a great marketing thing, that doesn’t mean it should be continuing.
This is going to be a long 2012…and 2013.
