Last night, the San Jose Sharks took it to the Los Angeles Kings, winning the first game of the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs (which could end up with San Jose facing the Anaheim Ducks in the second round).

Starting tomorrow, the Golden State Warriors will face the Los Angeles Clippers in the first round of the NBA playoffs, in what could be the most interesting first round matchup.

Earlier this week, the Oakland Athletics faced off with the Los Angeles Angels of Suburbia, taking two out of three, with two extra inning contests and three one-run games.

And, of course, the Giants beat L.A. with two out of three, with an extra-inning game and three one-run games.

While the baseball rivalries won’t get renewed until May, the next couple of weeks will be fun for the NorCal/SoCal rivalry, nearly across the board.

Meanwhile, football has no southern California presence.  (You say the Chargers?  I say YOU HEARD ME.)  And the Niners “rival” city has no hockey team, is still smarting from the Sonics fleeing, and basically couldn’t care less about the Mariners.

Oh, L.A., if only you had the whole package.

* – Why is that the old-style Coliseum?  Because we didn’t want no Raiders messing with this comic, that’s why!  And it’s not a bad idea to remind A’s fans of when their stadium was tolerable…
