The Lunatic Fringe

Chad Gaudin was a good Giant.

He was a very good long relief guy.  When Vogelsong went down, he moved into the rotation and was good.  He wasn’t great, but he was one of the stronger members of the rotation while Cain and Lincecum struggled.  And his absence from the bullpen (along with Casilla) sent that part of the team into a spiral…

But yet, the Giants made no move to sign him.

Maybe it has to do with the whole Vegas groping thing, though that was a controversy that flared up and died down quickly.  Maybe it was the rise of Yusmeiro Petit, though I’m not all that confident in him.

Or maybe there’s something we don’t know about Gaudin which is why he keeps having the change teams and can’t stick.

I don’t know, but no more Chad Gaudin.  On the Phillies?  Well, it could be worse…
