Meet Your New Giants: Melky Cabrera
And that is all you need to know about Spring Training stats.
But oh, oh my, I wish it was real.
Right now, with 24 at-bats (tied for the most on the team so far this spring), Cabrera’s batting .542 with four doubles and three home runs. I won’t even worry about the lack of walks because he’s struck out just once. That’s some big numbers right there.
If his and Brandon Crawford’s numbers (.429/.529/.643) were for real and mean that they both will have big seasons, then that means very good things for the Giants this season. They are two of the non-Posey swing points in the season, and if they do even just fairly well, the Giants will spend the season contending.
And I’d like that. Yes, please.
