National Pride
I know, I know, this is a sports comic, no one wants to hear about politics…but…
It is awkward to try and be patriotic when a prominent politician is using Nationalism to further xenophobic and racist feelings and agendas.
There, politics over.
That said, isn’t it about damned time the U.S.A. wins the WBC? I loved seeing Japan get to show off their young stars in it, and win. Seeing Cuba is always a treat, though hopefully it’ll get more normal in the coming years (maybe…okay, no more politics). And the Dominican Republic clearly has the kind of talented team that deserves winning. Hell, I’d even love to see the Netherlands be that underdog team (More for Hensley Meulens than their colors).
But, come on. The U.S. is just as deserving. I’m really hoping that Buster and Crawford help lead the team to it’s first win. Look, I’m proud to be an American, dammit. That doesn’t mean I hate other countries, or think they’re lesser. I’m just proud to have grown up here, to have parents that served in the military, and love the ideals, even if we don’t always live up to them.
AND IT’S OUR DAMN PASTTIME. SO IT’S PAST TIME WE WIN THIS THING!
