No, Romo’s not going to make the 49ers a winner.  But this is going to be a team without an offensive line, with a fresh coach and possibly a fresh brand new general manager.  This team isn’t going to be a winner anytime soon, and a rookie quarterback would be mincemeat in the situation.

The next QB the 49ers have will be a placeholder, no matter what.  If he’s a QB with potential, well, just ask Derek Carr what happened to his brother (who had a lot of potential).  He’ll be the guy before the next guy, who might be a winner.  Might be.

So, if the next guy is going to be a placeholder, the 49ers could do worse than a veteran QB who could be as much of a coach on the field as anything.  That’s my thought, anyway.
