The Lunatic Fringe

To be honest, I’m surprised I didn’t hear more from hockey fans as the Giants made the playoff beard their ‘thing’ in this offseason.  But then, I was surprised to read that hockey playoff beard traditions started only in the 1980’s.  I thought for sure it dated back to at least the 60’s.

Of course, Wilson’s wasn’t just a playoff beard.  And frankly, his puts those hockey beards to shame.  Not that I think it’d be a good idea for hockey players to have ZZ Top sized beards.  I can see that backfiring in a fight on the ice.
