Back to normal.

I hate this normal.

The Giants have a lot of catch-up to do.  The pitching is there.  They’re bringing back two question marks in the bullpen, which means that part of the team is set for 2012 (and for quite a price).  The rotation is set.

But, gentlemen, if this team is going to win, they’re going to need some offense.  I’m okay with a stopgap in center (like Andres Torres coming back), since Gary Brown is the future and he’s not far away.

But the Giants need a shortstop.  Badly.  No other position is as big a hole.  Put even a slightly-above average shortstop in with a  lineup returning Buster Posey, Freddy Sanchez and Nate Schierholtz, and you have to imagine improvements from Huff (or him getting replaced by Belt)…and that’s a good start.  At least, it is in my imagination.  And that’s all I’ve got for the next five months.

It’s going to be a long offseason.
